Ingredients :
For the marination :
250 gms chicken cut into bite sized pieces
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
Salt
1 tsp red chilli powder
Half cup Yoghurt
1/2 cup bell peppers diced (I have used yellow, red and green)
For the gravy :
5 cashewnuts
1 medium onion diced
2 garlic cloves
1/4 inch piece of ginger
Other ingredients:
3 tsp oil/ ghee
Half onion chopped
1 large tomato chopped
2 garlic cloves chopped
1/4 inch of ginger chopped
2 tsp red chilli powder
2 tsp garam masala powder
Coriander leaves to garnish
Method:
- Marinate the chicken with the ingredients listed under 'for the marination' and keep it aside for half an hour
- Grind the ingredients mentioned under 'gravy' in a blender to a smooth paste.
- Heat 1 tsp oil/ghee in a pan and fry the ground paste till oil leaves the sides. This may take 15-17 minutes. Remove in a bowl.
- Heat 1 tsp oil/ ghee in the same pan and saute the marinated chicken till it is fully done and the mixture becomes dry. Alternatively, you can also do this in an oven.
- Heat the remaining oil in another pan and saute the chopped ginger and garlic. Add the onions and fry till it becomes brown,
- Now add in the tomato and fry till it becomes mushy
- Add the chicken, the onion+cashew gravy along with red chilli powder and garam masala powder. Mix well. You can add a little water but make sure there is very little thick gravy
- Add more salt if required. Garnish with coriander leaves
