Lemon Coriander Chicken

This recipe was posted by a Facebook friend Tanushree. She is an amazing cook and she just amazes me every time by her new posts and her food photography is fantastic. Thanks Tanushree for this tangy chicken recipe. As my husband is very fond of lemon, he loved this a lot. I have just made one change in the original recipe.

Ingredients:
1 kg chicken cut into bite sized pieces
2 tbsp coriander seeds
12 red chillies
2 tbsp cumin seeds
2 cloves of garlic
1 tsp turmeric powder
3 tsp oil
Salt
1 cup curds
2 onions chopped
2 inch ginger grated
4 green chillies chopped
Coriander leaves one bunch finely chopped. Also chop the stem finely and keep separately
Juice of one small lemon

Method:
  • Dry roast red chillies, cumin seeds, coriander seeds and garlic till they change colour. Allow it to cool and make a coarse powder
  • In a non stick pan heat oil and fry the onions till it turns slightly brown.
  • Add the chopped coriander stem and the ground powder and mix well.
  • Add the chicken, turmeric powder, salt and mix well. Sprinkle little water, cover and cook till chicken is half done.
  • Remove from flame and add ginger, green chillies and curds. Mix well and put it back on flame.
  • Cook on low flame till chicken is cooked and the gravy dries up.
  • Finally add the lemon juice and coriander leaves. Mix well and serve
