Dal Makhni


Ingredients :

1 cup black urad dal
2 tbsp rajma
1 tbsp chana dal
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 bay leaves
4 cloves
2 tsp chopped ginger
2 tsp chopped garlic
1 medium onion chopped
2 small tomatoes chopped
3 green chillies chopped
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp red chilli powder (alter as per spice tolerance)
1 tsp garam masala powder
Salt to taste
Half cup cream
1 tbp butter
Coriander leaves to garnish

Method:


  • Soak black urad dal, rajma and chanadal overnight. Pressure cook till soft.
  • Heat oil in a kadai. Add cumin seeds, bay leaves and cloves and fry till cumin seeds changes colour. 
  • Add chopped ginger and chopped garlic and saute. 
  • Add the chopped onions and chopped green chillies. Fry till onions becomes brown. 
  • Add the chopped tomato. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and garam masala powder and fry for a minute
  • Add the cooked dal and mix well. Add salt. Cover and cook on a low flame for atleast 20 mins.
  • Finally add the cream and butter. Mix well and garnish with coriander leaves
