Lazeez Murgh Tikka Masala


This recipe is from my aunt Nandini Kini.

Ingredients :

1/2 kg chicken pieces

For marination:
  2 tbsp thick yoghurt
  1 tsp coriander powder
  1/2 tsp cumin powder
  1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  Salt to taste
  1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  1 tsp kasuri methi(dry fenugreek leaves)
  3 tsp besan(gram flour)

For gravy:
  4 tsp oil +1 tsp oil
  1 tsp cumin seeds
  2 chopped onion
  2 tsp coriander powder
  1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  2 tsp chopped ginger and garlic
  3 tsp chilli powder
  1/4 cup tomato puree
  3 tsp khova
  1 tsp kasuri methi
  3 tsp fresh cream
  1 cup onion and capsicum cut into cubes
  Coriander leaves for garnishing


Method:

  • Wash and cut chicken into small pieces
  • Marinate with the ingredients mentioned under 'marination' and keep in the fridge for 1 hour
  • Grill it or roast it on tava and keep aside
  • In a pan take 1 tsp oil and saute capsicum, onion cubes with little salt and keep aside
  • In same pan heat 4 tsp oil add cumin seeds
  • When cumin seeds change colour, add chopped onion and fry till translucent
  • Put chopped ginger and garlic and fry till it changes colour
  • Add turmeric, red chilli powder and coriander powder
  • Add tomato puree and saute for 5 minutes
  • Add khova, kasuri methi and cream
  • Now add the grilled chicken tikkas, stir fried capsicum and onion cubes, salt to taste and cook for 5 minutes
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice
