Ingredients:
Idli :
2 cups urad dal
3 cups Idli rawa
Salt
Dal :
1 cup toor dal
1 chopped onion
3 flakes garlic chopped
1 inch ginger chopped
1 tomato chopped
3 green chillies
2 tsp mustard seeds
1.5 tsp jeera
Few curry leaves
Salt
Coriander leaves to garnish
Method :
Idli-- Soak Urad dal for 5-6 hrs. Grind it in a grinder till it becomes smooth. This may take 15-20- mins. Wash idli rawa and add it to the urad dal. Keep it in a big container overnight to ferment. Add salt next morning and steam idlis in moulds or idli stand.
Steam for 20-25 mins.
Dal-- Wash toor dal. Put it in a pressure cooker along with onion, tomato, garlic, ginger and green chillies and 2.5 cups of water. Cook it for 15 mins or 5-6 whistles. Transfer into a vessel. Bring it to a boil. Add salt. Season with mustard seeds, jeera and curry leaves. Garnish with coriander leaves
