Jeera Rice and Egg Chilli Gravy


Jeera Rice

    Ingredients:
      2 cups Sona Masoori Rice (You can use basmati rice too)
      2 tbsp ghee or oil
      3 tsp cumin seeds
      2 onions sliced
      3 green chillies slit lengthwise
      2 tsp ginger garlic paste
      4 cups water
      Salt

      Method:

  • Heat ghee/oil in a pressure cooker. 
  • Add cumin seeds. When it changes colour put the chopped onions and saute till it becomes transparent
  • Add green chillies and ginger garlic paste and fry for a minute
  • Add the rice, salt. Mix well.
  • Add water and bring to a boil. Pressure cook until 3 whistles and them simmer for 5 minutes.
Egg Chilli Gravy

     Ingredients:
      5 boiled eggs (I have discarded the yolks and cut the egg white into quarters. You can use                  the whole egg. Just cut it in half and add it in the gravy)
      2 tsp oil
      5 garlic finely chopped
      1 inch of ginger finely chopped
      1 onion diced
      4 green chillies cut lengthwise
      1 capsicum sliced
      2 tsp soy sauce
      4 tsp tomato ketchup
      1 tsp vinegar
      2 tsp red chilli powder
      Salt
      2 tsp cornflour mixed in 4 tsp water
 
    Method:
  • Heat oil in a pan. Fry the chopped garlic and ginger till brown. 
  • Add the diced onion and saute. 
  • Add green chillies and capsicum  and fry till capsicum becomes soft.
  • Add soy sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, salt and red chilli powder and Mix well.
  • Add the cornflour slurry. Mix well and let the gravy boil.
  • Add the boiled eggs and mix well
