Ingredients:
1 cup Chana dal
3 tbsp chopped cashews
3 cups grated coconut
1/4 cup fine rawa
2 tsp cardamom powder
1 cup grated jaggery
A pinch of turmeric powder (optional)
Method:
- Grind the grated coconut with enough water to extract 2 cups of thick coconut milk. Add some more water to the grated coconut and extract 1.5 cups of thin coconut milk. Keep aside
- Dry roast the chana dal till it slightly turns brown. Pressure cook it with the thin coconut milk and cashews for 2 whistles.
- Transfer the chana dal in a thick bottomed vessel. Add jaggery and stir till the jaggery melts.
- Add the thick coconut milk, turmeric powder (optional) and the fine rawa and keep stirring till it comes to a boil.
- Add the cardamom powder and serve warm or chilled
