Palak Moongdal Curry


Ingredients:

3 cups spinach
Half cup Moongdal 
1 large onion chopped
6 garlic chopped
Small piece of ginger chopped
1 tsp mustard seeds
Half tsp cumin seeds
1 broken kashmiri red chilli
Half tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp red chilli powder
Salt
2 tsp Lemon juice

Method:

  • Wash the spinach and chop it roughly.
  • Soak moongdal in water for 15 minutes
  • Heat oil in a kadai. Add the mustard seeds and allow it to splutter, Add the cumin seeds and red chilli. Fry till cumin changes colour
  • Now add the garlic and ginger and saute
  • Put the onions and fry till it turns brown
  • Now add the moong dal and little water. Cover and cook for 10 minutes
  • Now add the spinach, salt, turmeric powder and chilli powder. Mix well. Cover and cook till te dal and spinach is fully cooked
  • Add the lemon juice and mix well. Serve with rice or chapathis
