Chana Dal Vada / Chattambade


Ingredients :

1 cup Chana dal soaked for 1 hour
1 small onion finely chopped
1 inch piece of ginger finely chopped
1/4 cup coriander leaves chopped

1 sprig curry leaves chopped
2 green chillies finely chopped
Salt
Half cup dill leaves chopped (optional)

Method:

  • Grind the soaked chana dal in a blender. Do not add much water. Make a coarse paste.
  • Remove the chana dal paste in a bowl. To this add onion, ginger, coriander leaves, curry eaves, green chillies, salt and dill leaves.
  • Mix well and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  • Heat oil to medium in a pan. Wet your palms.Take a scoop of the batter in your palms and press it and give a round shape. Drop it in oil. Deep fry till it turns golden brown and crisp. 
  • Serve as it is or with tomato ketchup
